Welcome to my CV and Portfolio website.
I have been designing & developing user friendly websites for over 7 years. Over the last few years while I have been at College and University I have had further opportunities to enhance my skills by undertaking freelance web design and development projects for various clients, some of the more recent work can be found online on this website.
As of this summer I have completed my degree at University and I am currently seeking employment as a web designer / developer in the big world of IT.
2009 - Present
Presently employed for a Telecommunications company as a IT Development Manager, more info to be added later.
2004 - 2009
In 2004 I came to the conclusion that I enjoyed programming as well as designing websites, editing photos and graphics. At this point I took the bold move of changing my course from solely computing to a Higher National Diploma in multimedia computing with web development. This led me to studying at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies where I successfully completed my Higher National Diploma with a grade AA.
While at college I had various opportunities to get involved in voluntary work for the student association, which got me elected as the equal opportunities officer on the student executive committee as well other opportunities such as meeting a member of the British Royal family and helping to organise the end of year ball.
As a hobby around this time I started web programming using PHP and MySQL. I adopted using XHTML 1.1 standard & CSS to develop websites.
In 2006 my enthusiasm for web design and development led me to studying at Glasgow Caledonian University where I successfully completed my BSc in Internet Software Development. Where I learned I enjoyed working with JAVA as well to create applications, my enjoyment for this subject led me to achieving the highest mark out of the entire year for this subject.
As of this summer I am now looking to further enhance my skills and gain some experience professionally in the web design and development field.
Pre - 2004
While at school I discovered that I was very good at programming using TrueBasic and always found Computing an interesting subject. As I was naturally good at Mathematics I found some concepts in Computing very easy to understand and logical.
My interest in HTML started when I was 16 years old when I developed a basic personal home page for myself on Lycos homepages and later using the Homestead Builder. This led me to start working with MSN Groups, where I used the advanced editing HTML options to customise the Groups that I ran at the time.
My hobby of photography started at a previous job as an assistant photographer / administrative assistant in 2002 - 2003, where I realised I really enjoyed taking photos. Eventually my interest in Computing over the years led me to successfully completing some modules in Higher National Certificate Computing at Reid Kerr College part time.
